What is Plato's Ship of Fools Allegory?
In Book VI of The Republic, Plato presents a metaphor in which a ship is controlled by a deaf, short-sighted owner and a mutinous crew that knows nothing of navigation. The allegory is a critique of democratic politics that places persuasion above knowledge.
